Advice from The Bride… Take time during the day to pause and take it all in. Weddings are hectic and busy, but looking back on little moments will always bring a smile to your face! While your getting ready, take a few minutes to watch and listen to everything going on around you with your friends and family!

From the Bride… One of the most memorable parts of our wedding was the walk down the aisle with both of my parents by my side. Walking with them, and seeing Devon with the biggest smile on his face! Our wedding marked the beginning of our lives together, after living in separate countries, and doing long distance for majority of our relationship. Seeing him at the end of the aisle was probably the happiest moment of my life… so far!

We added meaningful details to the wedding, with the help of our friends and family. The bridesmaid’s bouquets and groomsmen boutonnieres were made by one of my dear friends and bridesmaids as a gift. The dress for our flower girl (my niece) was made by my sister. Guests’ favors were jars of pepper sauce, jams and kuchela homemade by my parents and mother-in-law.

My sister, who was my Maid of Honour, was the inspiration for many details of my wedding. From the type of bouquet I had and my style of shoes, to the pearls I wore and the designer for my dress. Younger siblings usually tend to pull inspiration from their older counterparts since they’ve been in their shoes before. In my case, it meant being able to follow in the footsteps of one of the people I look up to the most.Trinidad Wedding VenuePhoto by Laura Ferreria StudiosTrinidad Wedding VenuePhoto by Laura Ferreria Studios
My bridesmaids all wore white wrap dresses, tied uniquely for each of them. I’ve always loved the look of white or off-white bridesmaid dresses, and thought it was the perfect way to add a unique touch and have these special ladies stand out in the crowd.

Dress Shopping Advice… Try on everything! Pull a few dresses in styles and colours that you wouldn’t normally look at (blush pink dresses are gorgeous!) and keep an open mind. I fell in love with some dresses that I would have never considered if I hadn’t tried them on. Luckily my mom and sister told me to try, try try!

For the ceremony I incorporated a long blush pink sash on my wedding dress and wore blush pink shoes sticking with the colour theme for the wedding. I found that little bursts of colour made the outfit uniquely mine. However, after dinner I switched the sash for a cream one with pearls and beading, let my hair down, changed into wedges and added a beaded headband for a different reception look.

Wedding Inspiration & Decor.. I always envisioned a classic and romantic theme for my wedding. I think I got that from my mom, who is probably the most classic woman I know! Her timeless style and elegance, inspired the theme of my wedding! My aim was to capture this same timeless style in my decor, while keeping things light and delicate. I chose soft complimentary colours including cream and white, gold and blush with hints of green. My flowers of choice were hydrangeas, roses and baby’s breath paired with lots of lighting and candles to add a soft ethereal touch to the nighttime ambiance.

Devon and I have always loved the outdoors and open air, so we opted for an outdoor venue that would compliment our theme and colour. Drew Manor was the ultimate mix of elegance and versatility. The venue itself is gorgeous and did not call for much to transform it into our vision. The garden area could not be more perfect for a romantic ceremony and breathtaking pictures.

Dancing under the stars for the reception was a highlight of the night!

We tried to incorporate many personal details into our wedding that held significance for us, while sticking to our colours and classic theme. This made the whole planning process a fun and exciting experience, and definitely something I would do again. I’ve already started planning our anniversary parties for the next ten years! Trinidad Wedding VenuePhoto by Laura Ferreria Studios
